Omega 3’s more effective in lowering blood pressure than lifestyle changes.

A new study shows that consuming the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA can provide higher levels of certain types of health benefits than some commonly recommended lifestyle changes. The comprehensive study, published online, looked at 70 randomized controlled trials conducted with adults who consumed omega 3’s from seafood, fortified foods, and dietary supplements. The authors found that simply consuming omega 3s was just as effective (if not more so) in lowering the subjects’ blood pressure than such changes as increasing physical activity or restricting alcohol and sodium intake.
